After performances in the world’s most celebrated theaters including Broadway itself and London’s West End, Hamilton will now also be performing for a limited season this fall in Benedum Center of Pittsburgh, an equally regarded theatre acclaimed for its best facilities fit to present world-class productions and shows.
Hamilton honors the life of Alexander Hamilton, conceived and scored by the multi-talented Lin-Manuel Miranda, based off the 2004 biography of Ron Chernow. It recounts the historical times of Hamilton himself in a ‘hipper’ manner, being devoted to the events behind Hamilton's life but with artistic flair and musical scoring that makes this production extremely entertaining. The Musical originally began off Broadway in mid 2015 and was immediately met with impressive reviews from its premier. Among numerous critics and audiences, The Washington Post, called it “making ecstatic history”, as the show’s premiere with its impressive cast which included the likes of show creator Lin-Manuel Miranda himself in the title role and Tony Award winner Jonathan Groff, astounded audiences in its first performance with a brilliant opening night. The show went on over the next decade to collect 11 Tony Awards from 16 nominations, as well as Olivier, Grammy, and Pulitzer Prize Awards.
Since it began in 2015, the show has since traveled to perform in several venues across the globe, where it has been getting continuously great reviews. BroadwayWorld calls Hamilton “the hottest ticket in town”, as it lends itself to a bigger range in audience due to it being relatable to both the older audiences who came for the history behind the production, and the younger generations that wanted the new and innovative approach behind Hamilton. Across in the U.K.'s London’s West End, TimeOut had concerns over the production being overhyped, but that “Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical about Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of the U.S. Treasury, is actually better than the hype suggests”. Even just recently with a touring cast in its Manila, Philippines’ performance, PEP PH describes Hamilton as a “visual and sensory feast that adds layers of depth to the narrative”; “This musical is a masterpiece not because it tells a flawless story, but because it brilliantly captures the essence of the imperfect human experience, and in doing so, it achieves perfection on the stage”, they expanded.
Newspaper critics and viewers alike agree that Hamilton is a must-attend this fall as it picks up its performances all over the Country.
