After performances in the world’s most popular locations such as Broadway itself and London’s West End, Hamilton will now also be performing for a limited season this fall in Benedum Center of Pittsburgh, an especially renowned theatre acclaimed for its favorite facilities fit to host top-of-the-line plays and shows.
Hamilton honors the life of Alexander Hamilton, written and composed by the multi-talented Lin-Manuel Miranda, based off the 2004 biography of Ron Chernow. It retells the historical life of Hamilton himself in a ‘hipper’ style, remaining devoted to the truth behind his life but with artistic flair and musical styles that makes this production very entertaining. Hamilton really began off Broadway in the late summer of 2015 and was instantly met with epic reviews from its premier. As well as plenty of critics and reviewers, The Washington Post, called it “making ecstatic history”, as the show’s premiere with its epic cast that included the likes of the musical's creator Miranda himself in the lead role and Tony Award winner Jonathan Groff, impressed audiences in its first performance with a memorable performance. Hamilton went on over the next 10 years to take home eleven Tony Awards from sixteen nominations, in addition to Olivier, Grammy, and Pulitzer Prize Awards.
Since it began in 2015, the show has since traveled to be performed in lots of theaters across the globe, where it has been met with continuously raving reviews. BroadwayWorld calls The Musical “the hottest ticket in town”, as it lends itself to a broad range in audience due to it being understandable to both the more mature generations who came for the history behind the show, and the newer generations that wanted the exciting and artistic concept behind this show. In London’s West End, TimeOut had concerns over Hamilton being overly hyped up, but that “Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical about Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of the U.S. Treasury, is actually better than the hype suggests”. More so, recently with a touring cast in its Manila, Philippines’ performance, PEP PH describes Hamilton as a “visual and sensory feast that adds layers of depth to the narrative”; “This musical is a masterpiece not because it tells a flawless story, but because it brilliantly captures the essence of the imperfect human experience, and in doing so, it achieves perfection on the stage”, they expanded.
Both critics and audiences alike agree that the production is a must-watch this fall as it picks up its tour all over America.
